Xiaomi has been making waves in the electric car market with its SU7 model since the last few months. Although it was initially sold only in China, sales of the SU7 exceeded expectations. According to new claims, the company is developing a hybrid-powered SUV.
Hybrid SUV allegedly coming from Xiaomi
Xiaomi, which released its first electric vehicle in June, is reportedly working on its second car. The new vehicle, which is said to be an SUV, will also include a hybrid version. Xiaomi, which will adopt hybrid technology for more range, will create an alternative to electricity.
A job advertisement in China revealed Xiaomi’s future plans. The company said it is looking for engineers for “vehicle thermal management technology route planning and program formulation” for a hybrid vehicle.
The job advertisement requires applicants to have more than 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. It also requires 10 years working on thermal management integration for hybrid or long-range electric vehicles.
This reveals that Xiaomi’s second car will probably be an SUV. In addition to the electric version, it will also support hybrid technology. It is estimated that the hybrid SUV will be launched at the end of the year and will go on sale in 2025.
Xiaomi is also rumored to launch a more affordable electric vehicle of 25 thousand dollars in 2026. However, the first targets are directed towards SU7 and SUV.
